Dressed For Success

This Summer I had the privilege of interning with Walmart. I was so excited to start the job, yet kind of nervous, I mean its the largest retailer in the world-I couldn’t mess it up! Being the fashion lover I am, I felt as though I would not be fully prepared to start working, if my wardrobe was not fully equipped ;).

I started hunting for business casual clothes, but I became somewhat frustrated, as everything I was finding was super trendy, and printed blouses, when I wanted simple!! I wanted pieces I could wear every other week and no one would ever notice (ha ha), and I wanted good quality pieces that I would be able to keep around and they would still be in style in say 3 years. I wasn’t trying to make any real fashion statements here, I mean I’m entering corporate America!! But with all that being said, I wanted pieces that looked classy, polished, not over the top, but outfits that someone would just think are nice and put together.

I’m wearing the same shoes, jewelry, and pants in every outfit, just to show how changing up the shirt is totally acceptable. I mean who has that many pairs of slacks?!I looove these pants from J.Crew, the fit is great, they are thick, good quality fabric, they are comfortable, and they have some stretch!

I took these photos before my internship started, as I imagined that many other people my age would be interning as well and would also be on the outfit hunt. But life happens and I’m just now posting it 2 months later, oh well!

I hope you all enjoy, and maybe even find some inspiration for your business casual wardrobe!

Splash of Green

Shoes/Skirt/Earrings:(J.Crew sold out)-Similar here

I looove this bright green skirt; the color is so bright and fun, and the silhouette is flattering and adorable! I thought the bright color was perfect for summer. I paired the skirt with a plain white scoop neck tee, my favorite Marc Fischer wedges, these fun gold beaded hoops from J.Crew, and I layered some simple gold necklaces to add a little something but not too much with the big earrings. This skirt is so cute and flattering and can easily be worn with wedges for dinner out with friends, or with some light colored sneakers to spend the weekend shopping and going to the farmers market. I will definitely be wearing it both ways, and these are the sneakers I plan on pairing it with-how cute!

Stripes + Denim

How cute is this denim jumper!? When I saw it I immediately knew I had to have it. I was envisioning a striped shirt to go underneath, and I found the perfect match with this Madewell shirt. It is a little thicker than your average t-shirt, and it has a ribbed texture which I love! I decided to wear these fun tassel earrings to balance out the white in the shirt, and add something exciting, and then I wore these tan espadrille wedges that I am in looove with.

What a fun, and easy summer outfit!

These cuffed Levi’s shorts are so cute, high rise, and the perfect wash for summer, I love them!

How cute is this tank top by Moon River?! I love the sweater like material, and how it is twisted in the front, it makes it unique and would be so cute with shorts, or even jeans to transition to spring!

Zara Friday Favorites

Checkered Shirt/Black Jumper/White High Neck/Lilac Button Down/Pink Ruffle Shirt

When you forget to post your Friday Favorites on Friday… lol.

Anyways! Zara is slowly but surely adding some adorable pieces for spring/transitioning into spring and there were a few pieces that I was loving!!

This black and white checkered top would be so cute with some white skinny jeans, and wedges.

I’m loving all the pinafore style dresses, and this jumper reminded me of that style and I’m loving it! With a little white t-shirt underneath, and some wedges, it could be so so cute.

The white high neck tank I think would be perfect with any skirt and would help an outfit easily come together.

The lilac button down would be so adorable front tucked into some white cut-off shorts and paired with some tan sandals-an easy go to outfit.

This pink ruffle shirt is so fun and cute, would make your tan pop, and could go with jeans or a pair of cut-off shorts!

Some other pieces I’m loving:

Navy Jumpsuit Dress

Frilled Jumpsuit Dress

Embroidered Jumpsuit

T-shirt with Front Knot

Top with Ribbed Cuffs

Leather Crossbody Bag

Friday Favorites

Pink Shirt/Pinafore Dress/Round Aviators/White Shirt Dress/Black Smock Top

(Scroll down for more picks!!)

I’m a die hard online shopper. I’d like to think I’ve been online shopping before it was a normal thing, back when Nordstrom didn’t even offer free shipping on every order…like I think I’ve been obsessed for a solid 8 years or so. There’s just something so thrilling about ordering so many beautiful things, waiting for your goodies to arrive, and trying them all on-its just so fun.

When I online shop, I only order from places that have free shipping and free return, or have a minimum amount to spend to get free shipping. I just can’t justify spending money to receive things I might not even keep and spend money to send it back. I wouldn’t pay $10 to walk in to Nordstrom look around and pay another $10 to leave if I didn’t find anything I liked. Thankfully there are plenty of websites that offer free shipping and free return all the time!!

All that being said, I love to find cute unique pieces on the internet, and I love helping other people find things-It’s like a scavenger hunt. I wish I could buy every single item that I love, but obviously I’m unable to, and I often find myself finding things that I absolutely love and could totally picture on one of my friends, but wouldn’t necessarily look good on me. I decided that every Friday I’m going to compile a couple pieces that I love, some things I ordered for myself, or some things I could totally picture someone else rocking.

I bet I’m not alone in this, but if I’m online shopping I like to order multiple things, not just one thing…I just don’t see the point in doing an order for a single item; So every Friday I’m going to post some of my picks from one website- and this week I found so many goodies I love from ASOS.

Also LOVING:

  1. This Free People Denim skirt
  2. This adorable swim top
  3. This wrap front top
  4. This unique and fun pink striped sweater
  5. This knotted tank
  6. This white ruffle dress
  7. This fun floral dress
  8. This white smock top

I hope you love these items as much as me!

Enjoy!

Colder Weather

We’ve officially had single digit temps this winter, but thanks to this cozy sweater, and oh so warm boots I’ve been able to stay warm!! Winter is definitely not my favorite season, and I absolutely despise being cold, but having cute winter clothes that also keep me warm makes it a teeny tiny bit more bearable ha!

J.Crew completely just re-did their jeans and released them about 2 weeks ago, and I was oh so eager to get my own pair and try them out. I’ve always wanted to love their jeans, but they have always been too stiff and just never fit quite right-but now they are stretchy, and comfy and so so cute! I was so excited when I saw this pair of button fly jeans, I just had to have them! They make a front tuck that much cuter, and they are just something a little different. I love them so, and I’m so glad I decided to give J.Crews new jeans a try!

New Year, New Foundation

Its a new year, and I’m making my daily routine a little easier, and a little bit better! I have been using Maskcara IIID Foundation, and loving it! It is a cream foundation highlight and contour system, that makes highlighting and contouring so easy, and simplifies the process by having all the products in one little palette-and the packaging is so cute. Each color comes in a magnetic tin, that pops into the Maskcara compact. My set up includes, a highlight, which is the main foundation or base, a contour, to add dimension and define my facial bone structure, a lip+cheekto add color and highlight my cheek bones and it doubles as a lip color, an illuminator, to add a natural glowy look to my skin, a translucent powder, to set my face, a double sided brush, to apply and blend the product, and a perfecting sponge, to blend and smooth my contour.

Unfortunately, I suffer from rosacea; Certain foundations and face products will cause me to have flare ups, but this Maskcara foundation is gentle on my skin and provides enough coverage that it covers my rosacea, but doesn’t appear caked on at all. The IIID Foundation, allows you to achieve a highlight and contour quickly and makes it so easy! Because of my rosacea, I need a little more coverage, so I do a full face of the highlight using the pointed side of the brush, then the flatter side to apply the contour along my jawline, chin, below my cheek bones, along my temples, the top of my forehead, and down each side of my nose-then I blend it all out. I then use the cheek and lip color blending upward from the apples of my cheeks. Then using my finger I add illuminator on the top of my cheek bone, the bridge and tip of my nose, and the my cupids bow right above my lips. I make sure everything is blended, and then set it all with the translucent powder. The finished look is defined cheek bones, a smooth complexion, and a healthy glow.

I was color matched by Jenny, who is a Maskcara artist, and owns Bare. Permenant Makeup. She walked me through the contour process, made it easy to understand, and found the perfect colors for me. Jenny is so fun to work with, and so good at what she does! You can contact her for a Maskcara make over through her website, or she can color match you by taking a quick quiz, and providing a make up free photo. Check out Jenny’s website to browse all the products, learn more about Maskcara and how to perfect the contour with her cute video!

Give Maskcara a try, you won’t regret it!!

Embroidery Love

Around spring break Zara just wasn’t doing it for me, everything was kind of odd and not my style at all and I was so frustrated… I thought everything was going to be ugly all summer long, but that is not the case at all- Zara is back on track and this dress I think made up for the dry spell.

The embroidery and sheer flowy fabric is so sweet and light and I’m in love with it! I also got these metallic gold platform espadrilles from Zara, and I thought they complimented dress so well.

This sweet little dress is perfect for any summer night, and I cant wait to wear it all summer long!

Sweet Summertime

Just like that my sophomore year is over, and somehow I’m halfway through college?! Time is flying by, but I’m so excited to have this summer to just relax, take a break from school and get my blog up to date!

Recently I’ve been loving Madewell, they do effortless summer so well. Yes, summery silk blouses are cute and all, but they really aren’t practical or comfortable everyday in this summer heat. Madewell offers an abundance of light and comfy tanks and tees to throw on with denim shorts all summer long.

I paired this brick colored sweater tank with my favorite denim cut-offs and the cutest platforms from Zara. When its super hot out I don’t exactly find it comfortable to wear bulky jewelry, so I layered 2 small necklaces to add a little detail!

Enjoy!
